I graduated from Northwest Nazarene University with my bachelor’s degree in social work. I love people, I love helping, I love social work. I knew I wanted to be a counselor. I want to work with people who need someone to help them utilize resources and tools in their lives to solve real life issues big and small.
Buuuuuut…..as final week had just begun my period had not….and after several positive tests I was pregnant. With a 7 year old I had managed to get through college, work, and be there for her through everything she had wanted to do as a single mom. But two kids was going to make it nearly impossible for me to work and then keep up with my daughter’s busy schedule, and now an infant. SO, I have been sitting around trying to figure out how I can best utilize my skills and also be with my kids when they need me. Here’s where the mom blog comes in.
While the baby is down for his nap I was sitting here with all these thoughts of blogging…and what do people want to hear about..what do people want to see…and then I got a text message from a girl I briefly worked with a couple years back who was wondering about available places for rent and then from there she began unloading her personal problems with me. Honestly, she’s only one of many people that I really didn’t know that well who have done this, and I love it. I love being someone people feel they can relate too, or that understand them. I knew then that this blog needed to be focused on people who just need a friend to confide in.
I think a lot of times as moms we hide our problems to shield our kids. Or we hide our problems to our friends and family so they aren’t aware of the negative in our lives. But lets be real, everyone has their good times and their bad. Women are always looking for other women who understand them.
